JOURNEY

While my name has a Russian origin, I do not. I am a Peruvian Latina with a touch of Italian on my mother’s side, and African descent on my father’s. I was born in Lima, Peru. I quickly picked up the nickname “Milly” in my JHS years (it’s much easier for Spanish and English speakers alike). 
At only 4 years old, I landed here in Brooklyn – my mother and I meeting my dad here, over the border. I was raised in Greenpoint, or “Little Poland” since 1991.
